Defending champions England are set to reveal their 2024 T20 World Cup squad tomorrow, with surprises expected.
According to a report on ESPNCricinfo, seasoned all-rounder Chris Jordan is poised to return to the provisional squad, while fast bowler Jofra Archer, despite grappling with a persistent elbow injury that has sidelined him from competitive cricket since May 2023, is also slated to secure a spot in the 15-member squad.
Jordan last featured in the T20I arena during the concluding stages of the 2023 summer against New Zealand, and was absent from the white-ball series in the Caribbean in December.
However, with Jamie Overton sidelined due to injury, Jordan stands to benefit, given his proficiency as a bowler capable of contributing crucial runs lower down the order.
On the other hand, it appears that Chris Woakes is likely to be omitted, while Duckett has secured a place as England's backup batsman.
It's anticipated that Tom Hartley, yet to make his international T20I debut, will edge out Rehan Ahmed as the secondary frontline spinner, supporting Adil Rashid.
England's top four is expected to feature Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Will Jacks, and Jonny Bairstow, all of whom have impressed during their stints in the IPL.
Buttler, Jacks, and Bairstow have each notched centuries for their respective franchises, while Salt has recorded three half-centuries in his first eight innings, boasting a strike rate of 176.08.
Meanwhile, England will be without the services of Ben Stokes, their talismanic performer in both the 2019 (50-over) and 2022 World Cups.
